Central Finland
Central Finland is a province whose economy combines traditional industries and new technologies. Traditional industries, such as forestry; paper, metal and wood product manufacturing; and machinery production are well represented in Central Finland. The province also invests heavily in future growth sectors. There are companies specialising in information and communication technology, energy and environmental technology, and wellness, as well as nanotechnology.
Central Finland is located at the centre of the logistical nodes in Finland, and the province is traversed by a comprehensive network of transport infrastructure. The largest city in Central Finland is Jyväskylä, which has around 140,000 inhabitants and 7,740 offices, and provides approximately 60,000 jobs. Every year some 700 new companies are set up in Jyväskylä.
The Central Finland Chamber of Commerce works in the long-term for corporate success in the region, for example, by dismantling barriers to trade and by improving the know-how and competitiveness of local businesses through various projects and the provision of trainings.
